I’m Amber Peterson-wife, mom and wedding industry expert. I have been working in this industry since 2009 as a wedding professional, bridal event organizer and now as a marketer.
My Industry Background
I started my planning company, Cheers Wedding Planning & Design in 2009 after having my first daughter. I loved the creative outlet and challenge wedding planning offered me. In 2013 I founded the Skagit Wedding Society, a small group for wedding professionals to meet and collaborate on wedding, styled shoots and promoting Skagit County, WA as a premier wedding destination. In addition to connecting wedding professionals with one another, the Skagit Wedding Society also produces the annual Skagit Wedding Tour.
After 9 years in the wedding industry growing my own business and learning from all of the members of the Skagit Wedding Society about what their pain points are in their marketing I feel I am uniquely qualified to help other wedding pros create and execute effective marketing plans that will propel their business forward.
My Professional Background
In addition to working in the wedding industry since 2009 my background and education is in marketing. I graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a BA in Public Relations in 2003. In 2007 I earned my Masters of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. During graduate school I held an internship with the Chicago Merchandise Mart and after graduation we relocated to the Pacific Northwest where I accepted a Marketing Director position.
Why Pinterest and Email Marketing
I specialize in Pinterest and email marketing and I am often asked why. My reasons are simple!
- They are the most effective platforms to create a steady stream of clients into a business
- Pinterest is where couples plan their weddings, so why not be there as well
- Once you have a steady stream of web traffic from Pinterest you need to capture that info and market to them (email marketing)
- Both are highly underused in the wedding industry
- I find both platforms fascinating!
